To achieve the signature look of her collection, Fluffy has devised a very unique method of working with steel. She starts with a 4'x8' sheet of stainless steel in 16, 18 or 22 gauge. The sheet is then cut into strips which are machine brushed and polished to a Steel Curves patina. A pattern is then traced onto the metal and it is cut and ground down. This is very labor intensive as the edges are quite sharp and can be dangerous. The strips are then finely edged and sanded. Each individual piece is then bent by hand and tested to meet the high standards required to hold weight or liquids. Copper parts are lacquered to prevent discoloring. When she is satisfied that the piece is successful both functionally and aesthetically, Fluffy signs it as a finished work of art. |
