Gary Rosenthal created this Ahava – Love mezuza to hang on your doorpost to bring love into your home. Love is much more than an emotion; it is kiddushin or “holiness.”
This mezuzah is also available with Cranberry Fused Glass. You can see this mezuza in the Anniversary, Wedding, Mezuzah, and Gary Rosenthal Sections of our store.
Ahava is the Hebrew word for love. The word first appears in the Torah when Isaac falls in love with Rebecca. Abraham sent a servant to the land of his ancestors to find a wife for his son Isaac. The servant searched far and wide until he finally came upon the beautiful Rebecca at the town well. To test her character, he asked Rebecca for a drink of water and she let him drink his fill. She even gave water to his camels.
Rebecca then took the servant to her home to eat and rest. Realizing that Rebecca’s kindness was as great as her beauty, the servant asked her to return with him to marry his master’s son. Rebecca chose to leave with the servant despite her family’s wishes for her to stay home awhile longer. Anxious to meet her betrothed, Rebecca and the servant made haste back to the home of Abraham. Isaac and Abraham approved of Rebecca and soon Isaac and Rebecca were married. Although it was not love at first sight, their marriage was filled with Ahava. Since its first use here in the Bible, Ahava has inspired many people.
By hanging a mezuzah you make your home a mikdash me’at or “little sanctuary” and bring sanctity and holiness into your home and your lives. May this mezuza bless your home with love because, “Many waters cannot quench love, and neither can rivers swept it away.”
Ahava is written in gold written vertically. Mezuza measures approximately 4 ½” long x 1 ½” widex 7/8” deep. The white fused glass measures approximately 3” long x 5/8” wide x ¼” deep.
